Top 30 Gamecube games to play in 2017 – with video of them @ 4k!
The gamecube may be 16 years old, but as many fans will tell you – it’s games were the best. Fortunately nowadays the gamecube’s 485mhz and 80mb of ram can easily be ran on modern PC’s. In addition, they can be upsampled and played at 4k and beyond!
Here are the top 30 games you should be playing NOW.
Top 10 – The Elite Few – These are games that are exceptional in every manner.
#1 – Tomb Raider Legend – This is back when Lara Croft was highly agile and acrobatic. Fantastic combat, puzzles, and challenges.
#2 – Super Mario Sunshine – If you liked Mario 64, this is for you.
#3 – Zelda Twilight Princess – Twilight Princess’s labyrinthine dungeons are some of the best in the series. The story is amazing. The graphics are fantastic.
#4 – Resident Evil 4 – Possibly the best Resident Evil ever to be released. Was re-released on PC. The graphics on the Gamecube look just as good!
#5 – Metroid Prime – The world was skeptical about a 3D FPS Metroid. This delivered and exceeded everyone’s expectations. Metroid Prime 2 is a must have, after playing the first.
#6 – 007 – Everything or Nothing – Possibly the best James Bond game in all of the series.
#7 – Evolution Worlds – This game is amazing throughout. The voice overs are well put together and the game is solid and fun.
#8 – Skies of Arcadia Legends – Nothing short of a masterpiece. Everything from the bright colorful visuals with in a charming world with distinct towns and cities. The boss battle music will actually shift depending on how well (or bad) the fight is going for you. The characters are lovable and interesting and I found my self so into their stories and the story at large that I sometimes had to just put the controller down so I didn’t rush through the game.
#9 – Soulcalibur II – The GameCube version is the best and it has better controls and better graphics and has a better secert ecsclusive character Link. For the vast majority of the gaming world, this is quite easily the best 3D beat ’em up ever made.
#10 – TimeSplitters 2 – Excellent game indeed. Who cares about the story when the game itself is fun as hell? Story mode has great amount of variation and the higher difficult level, the more objectives and other level chances you get. Challenge, Arcade Leagues and Mapmaker add A LOT of play time to the game.
Top 11-20 – Fantastic games, some best of the genre.
#11 – Legend of Zelda – The Four Swords – This is the best edition yet. I enjoy having the overhead view again, it makes the game much more fun. Playing this with a friend or single player can be a blast. Handily trumps “Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles” as the best example of Nintendo’s connectivity plan and serves up some fun multiplayer gaming.
#12 – F-Zero GX – This game is amazing. With speeds so fast you can barely keep track, blink and you’ll end up crashing. The levels are challenging and look beautiful. Story mode is fun and also challenging. Customizing your own f-zero racer is extensive, allowing you to add decals, change colors, buy new parts, and more. This game is not easy.
#13 – Luigi’s Mansion – The graphics are top-notch, the sound is catchy and simply lovable, the controls are delightful and the gameplay is original and just so much fun.
#14 – Metal Gear Solid – The Twin Snakes – It is both brief and linear in nature, but the story is presented with such a brilliant combination of style and substance that you’ll want to come back and experience it over and over again.
#15 – Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles – A very unique take on action RPG gameplay and progression. Visually compelling with a fully realized and dynamic world that pays excellent homage to the Final Fantasy mythos.
#16 – Geist – This game has great sound and cool graphics. Crank it up and start the killin.
#17 – 007 Nightfire – Smooth movement, great music and a captivating story line will keep Bond fans coming back for more.
#18 – Killer7 – The perfect game to play while drunk or stoned. Trippy, easy mechanics, and visuals to keep you in awe.
#19 – Balders Gate – An excellent choice for someone who enjoys the genre. Manages to walk the line between hardcore RPG and straight action. It’s fun and it’s polished – definitely worth your time.
#20 – Resident Evil Zero – No Resident Evil has established such gloomy mood as effectively as Resident Evil Zero, which paints every screen with a decadent artistry that is unmatched in its extraordinary detail and inspired darkness. The complex inventory and quick enemies might have you screaming, but most of the time it’s in a good way.
Top 21-30 – Honorable mentions that should not be passed up on.
#21 – Star Wars Rogue Squadron – Brilliant game and what Star Wars flight games should be like. Great graphics from back then and much better game play than most of the games now. If you get the chance to play this masterpiece go for it.
#22 – Top Gun – Cute fun arcade flight sim. Very casual and fun to play through.
#23 – Midway Arcade Treasures – Defender, Joust, Rampage, Smash TV, and more. Big homage to games of past.
#24 – Midway Arcade Treasures 2 – NARC, Total Carnage, Xenophobe, Mortal Kombat II and III. It’s worth it alone for just the Mortal Kobmats!
#25 – Digimon Rumble Arena 2 – A perfect example of turning something underrated into a great game. Its also embarrasses “Pokemon Colosseum” and its fuddy-duddy turn based approach, flaunting a more hands on approach.
#26 – Super Smash Bros Melee – The golden standard. Best yet, there is a HUGE online gaming community – it is easy to find people to play with online.
#27 – Pikmin 2 – Flat-out weird does not begin to describe this highly addictive title. You become so attached to your herds that it kind of hurts when you lose a Pikmin or two to drowning or carnivorous giant beetles. A game that gets everything right; the puzzles are just hard enough to be a challenge without being too frustrating, the presentation pleasing and the control spot-on.
#28 – Mega Man – Mega Man 1 through 8. Thats right boys, it has all the classics. A must play. This is before Mega Man got all complicated.
#29 – Summoner – A very linear game, but combines smooth graphical elements and excellent sound to deliver a wonderful experience. I cannot stress the genius of the game’s real-time, party based combat, which offers a far more satisfying combat play than the “Aidyn Chronicles” could ever achieve.
#30 – Call of Duty – Finest Hour – Smooth movement, great shooting, super storyline.
